The '''Decades of Chaos''' was a 23-year (2141 – 2164 CY) period of political instability within the [[Kingdom of Jozunia]]. The period is characterized by its political strife, assassinations, coups, fraudulent elections, and collapse of order with the political system. The decades of chaos would be caused by the disgruntlement of the military and nobility within Jozunia following the [[Second Homeland War]]. Though initially well placated after the war, following the death of king [[Kenohos Hegos]] in 2141 CY, the nobility would become uncooperative and the military unwilling to follow orders.

==History==
===Spipohos Cauros===
Following the death of Hegos, king [[Spipohos Cauros]] would be elected to the throne. Cauros was a populist figure, riding off the support of those in the army and their families. Cauros would promise that Jozunia would see new lands to be conquered, and proposed numerous wars against the Morei, Jashakus, and Kurozuns. This newly conquered land was planned to then be given to veterans yet to receive such land, or to those willing and able to cultivate it. Cauros would become controversial for this, the people of [[Cabiqoltun]] were unwilling to waste more lives in another pointless war, and the noble families not affiliated with the army grew concerned over Cauros’s ambitions.
In 2144, Cauros would reorganize the army to be centralized almost entirely around the king, and working towards an invasion of the Morei. He would make his intentions clear to the nobility of the kingdom and planned to invade within the next 5 years. This further worried the non-military nobility, as the lands of the Morei were vast and well defended, and Cauros’s control of the army seemed to point towards a looming coup and purge of the nobility. Nobleman [[Misrowohos Sisos]] would begin to lead a plot against Cauros, planning to assassinate him or force him into exile. The plot would gather several members and became bloated, causing delays in the plan and problems with secrecy. Cauros would discover a section of the plotters and had them executed, but Sisos and his close circle managed to remain hidden from the eyes of Cauros. As Cauros’s 5 year deadline soon approached, Sisos and his circle made their move. They lured Cauros into a meeting and drew their smuggled swords on him, demanding he leave Jozunia forever. Cauros would resist, knocking one of the men down and stealing his sword, he would then proceed to injure 2 others before he was finally fatally cut. Following his assassination, Sisos and his gang would find and murder as many of Cauros’s supporters as they could before they began to flee the city. Following the fleeing of all of Cauros’s supporters, the nobility would then elect [[Wizohos Dajos]] as king.

===Wizohos Dajos===
The election of Wizohos Dajos would be controversial within the nobility, though war had been averted with the Morei, the assassination was largely frowned upon, especially by the general public. The army became incensed at the assassination of Cauros, and began to prepare for war. Dajos would raise his own local militias to stand against the advancing military. The military would elect general [[Tequgunohos Taujuros]] as king, and would lay siege to Cabiqoltun in 2152 CY. Wizohos Dajos would attempt to defend the city but his militia would be unable to hold against the organized forces of the army. Dajos would die in the siege, leading to the fall of Cabiqoltun in 2153 CY.

===Tequgunohos Taujuros===
Tequgunohos Taujuros would take over following the fall of Cabiqoltun, Taujuros would then resume the plans of Cauros, but would plan to invade the Kutozuns instead. Taujuros would begin to violently suppress all opposition, becoming a dictatorial ruler, executing or exiling all the opposing nobles. Taujuros would also begin a purge of all dissent within the army, killing those he saw as opposing his rule. By 2156 Cy he had full control over Cabiqoltun and its politics, and would leave for an expedition in the lands of the Kutozuns. He would arrive in 2157 CY, and would be killed in a small skirmish with Kutozun scouts, leaving the army to retreat back to Cabiqoltun, taking heavy losses along the way.

===Sailkohos Ciprogartos===
The remaining nobility would return to Cabiqoltun and would elect [[Sailkohos Ciprogartos]], who promised to return order to Jozunia and solve the problems of the nobility and the military. He would begin to advocate for land reform and redistribution, which angered some more trade-oriented noblemen. Ciprogartos would be assassinated by an unknown man in 2159 CY while speaking in public, he was sabbed fatally with a knife.

===Ciprogartohos Ceitraibos===
Ciprogartos would be succeeded by his son, [[Ciprogartohos Ceitraibos]], who would be elected based on his promises to uphold his father's policies. Ceitraibos would implement the land reform policies, and would redistribute farmland to various veterans and soldiers who had not yet received such rewards. This reform would be divisive among the nobility, drawing ire especially from the wealthy landowners who had their vast estates redistributed. Cetraibos would also move towards decentralizing the army, and transitioning away from an expensive to maintain standing army. In 2162 CY, a plot would begin to assassinate Ceitraibos, led by wealthy landowner Namesonohos Nameos, the plot would go forward in 2164 CY, and Ceitraibos would be poisoned and die. The conspirators were caught and executed however, and the extremely wealthy landowning nobility lost public popularity and standing. The Decades of Chaos would finally come to an end with the election of Dajohos Wauhos in 2164.

Aigenic Misraism’s differences from other branches lay within the dualistic structure between the two major gods [[Boiguerr]] and [[Crib]]. The original structure of the duality has changed in Tschintieric Aigenism, with the two dualistic gods [[Schüüswi]] and [[Krüvs]] having taken on different responsibilities and meanings than the Doccábhic iterations they descend from. The main difference in Doccábhic Aigenism is that Boiguerr (Schüüswi) holds more meaning in being a god of creation, as opposed to the Tschintieric role as a god of power and destruction. Crib (Krüvs), who is the equal and opposite of Boiguerr in both variations, takes on the Tschintieric responsibilities of healing and temperance, while her original Doccábhic role was around the cold, winter, and death. This split of meanings is the cause of much strife within the Gintem Confederation, as Doccábh groups struggle to have these differences accommodated. The reason for these splits in responsibilities and meanings also happens with other major gods, and the cause is ultimately unknown. Dhimzes have historically been classified into various subgroups based on the geographic region which their ancestors traditionally inhabited. Even if a member of any of these subgroups moves to a different region, they will still be known by the name of their ancestral region.

While in the classical and medieval periods there were more regional differences, in the modern era Dhimrai is generally subdivided into three cultural regions: North, Central and South. The islands in the [[Triangle Sea]] are variably considered as part of the South region or a region on its own.

Marriage in traditional Yarami society was made with the socioeconomic status of the families involved as the first concern, as well as the maintenance of traditional family ties. Weddings were central occasions in a family's life, with spouses chosen carefully by parents, usually considering complex negotiation between the parents of the children and elders of the lineage. Especially among the well-to-do, and increasingly among all families as economic development expanded the wealth available to the Yarami, contracts of marriage were drawn up to stipulate the bride-price and expected future marriages between lineages. Monogamy was the most common form of marriage by far with polygamy (specifically polygyny) being limited to the rich and powerful. Divorce was difficult to personally initiate and would usually require the consent of both spouses' families as well as religious leaders or elders. The consequences for divorce with fault found were usually more severe for men than women, with most major punishments, up to and including death, reserved for men exclusively.

The decision to propose a marriage had two steps. While she was not usually the deciding force, the bride-to-be's mother would visit the mother of the groom-to-be and ask that her son marry her daughter. The discussion is usually formatted as the bride-to-be's mother offering the groom-to-be's son a gift, perhaps a boat or horse, with the bride-to-be's mother ritually refusing two times and either refusing a third to refuse the marriage or accepting on the third offer. If either's mother is deceased or otherwise indispensed for so long that the marriage cannot be delayed, any other female relative may make or receive the offer, except for the daughter to be married.

The betrothal party is then planned. The groom must not see, speak to, or speak directly of the bride until the betrothal party. This was usually a rather austere gathering of the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom and is where the terms of the marriage would be decided. Some of the terms may have been mentioned during the visit between their mothers, but are not binding until the betrothal party. The occasion was marked by a feast where the bride and groom are expected to hold hands through the duration of the event (with deviations allowed for pragmatic reasons). Occasionally, there would be a "closed" and "open" betrothal party, especially for marriages of great political importance. The closed betrothal party was intended for the writing of the marriage contract and the resolution of any standing disputes between the two families. The open betrothal party allowed the public to attend as a way of announcing the wedding to come.

The wedding itself would be set for a year after the betrothal party. Any final objections, particularly those from the public, would have to be made known during this time. It was generally rare to have a betrothal annulled. The bride-price would be paid out at the wedding, and the marriage would be blessed by tying the two spouses' hands together and the mother of each spouse (or the representative who went to make the proposal) putting their hands over the knot. Marriages between poorer families would usually be organized as penny weddings where attendees would be expected to contribute to a fund to hold the marriage and assist the new family. Though rare, among rural families there could also exist marriage "by circumstance" which would be recognized after a year of cohabitation. This was more common historically and was gradually displaced by the more formal wedding rituals. After the wedding, families were expected to produce an issue rather quickly and a lack of new children before a year after the wedding was considered a sign of infertility or bad marriage. Royal families might not necessarily have this restriction if there is an obvious reason for the king to be too involved with some more important matter - a war or important business matters, for example. (This would still be somewhat looked down upon as a sign of an inattentive husband.)

If two lineages came into a dispute, the "more influential" family (for example, the one whom a village elder had determined been wronged by the other, through murder or disrespect; or simple economic power) would have the "less influential" family marry a daughter into the former, with a reduced bride-price or no bride-price at all. A less influential lineage might offer a daughter with delayed reciprocal exchange to a more influential lineage to curry favor. These lineages were often considered patrilineally, if not by blood then by title, similar to primogeniture; this differs from the moiety's matrilineal reckoning.

The '''Dzamang peoples''' comprise the many tribes descending from the ancient ''Dzasa Langa'' polity settled on the Ba-Dzasa lake in western [[Huo]]. The Ba-Dzasa lake (known by many different names in the various Dzamang languages) is the epicenter of all the Dzamang cultures. The Tsongormang people, who inhabit the lake region currently, hold much prestige among the tribes due to them being in possession of important cultural artifacts. The Dzamang cultural sphere spans from the islands off the central-west Huo coast to central Huo.

Dzamang societies are collectively centered around women, as they are clan leaders and control affairs regarding trade and religion. Each tribe is under the governance of a respective council of clan leaders (''kamargi''/''kamarji''/etc.), the head of which is (usually) dually a chosen clan leader and her husband, who represents the warriors of the tribe.

The Safiuric dynasty would come into conflict with the native pre-Yasgan peoples of Hepetha, and would end up nearly eradicating them following the brutal X war. The Safiuric dynasty would also begin the process of Fuggic colonization along the southeastern coast of [[Etzavaz]], frequently coming into conflict with the native Etzavazi peoples and establishing trade cities along the coast.

[[Gęleyu the Immortal|Ką́zomah Gį́ríyo]] would become king of [[Kingdom of Hepetha|Hepetha]] while [[Nixigį́ I|Ką́zomah Nixigį́]] would continue to rule in Fugireu, becoming the [[Nixigic dynasty]]. In addition, Fuggic control over the various Etzavazi colonies would begin to wane, as various colonial settlements began to make their own independent decisions outside the monarchy's influence. The peace Ką́zoma had hoped to create would not last, as the two brothers, having grown separated over the years, came to blows multiple times over the independence of Hepetha. It eventually evolved into a loose federation of autonomous tzalist parties, comprising of factions divided on issues such as bourgeois democracy, the national question, general strikes, and, crucially, war. It collapsed in Uinte 4602 when most of its constituent parties chose to support their respective national governments in the [[Copper War]].

The '''Marphat Empire''' was an ancient civilization controlling much of northern [[Etzavaz]] during the [[1st millennium CY]]. The empire, along with the other [[Marphat states]], were among the leading political forces of Etzavaz and the trade system of the [[Triangle Sea]] in general.

Archeological evidence shows that North Etzavaz had been inhabited by culturally contiguous sedentary peoples since at least the [[Human history#Early civilizations|Chalcolithic]]: gold ornaments and copper tools have been found at [site] dating to the early [[2nd millenium BCY]]. Little is known about the cultures that inhabited the region, but according to Marphat histories, North Etzavaz was inhabited by various tribal groups which often came into conflict with each other.

According to Marphat legend, it was a tribal leader known as [[Ahesuyê the Builder|Ahesuyê]] who united the Marphat tribes and was crowned King of the Marphat. It is said that he convinced local chieftains to unite under him, and subjugated those who refused through conquest. Ahesuyê was named “King of the Marphat, King of the World, Chieftain of Chieftains, from the Mountains to the Seas, God amongst men”, which is a title that would be borne by later kings of the Marphat Empire (with the exception of “God amongst men”). He is said to have ruled for 50 years, a period described as a golden age of Marphat civilization. Upon his death, it was his son [[Erri-nepera]] who took the throne. Erri-nepera is said to have ruled for 20 years, which, in contrast to his father’s reign, is described as a period of strife and instability. Erri-nepera died around 70 CY, allegedly killed by his eldest son, who with his two brothers divided the Marphat people into three groups: Mountain, Lake and River.

The earliest Marphat inscription is dated to around 130 CY, “Seventh year of the reign of Aheyotti”. In the year 389 CY, [[Girrizomê]] was crowned King of Dozê after his father’s [[Girrikêmat]]’s death. During his reign, Girrikêmat had conquered the Kingdom of Nîzân and was waging war against Têke-ṯêwa. Girrizomê took over his father’s campaigns and by the year 396 had subjugated Têke-ṯêwa and Maṭël and founded the Marphat Empire. Through a personal union, he also integrated Änzim into the Empire. His Empire stretched from the [[Verethian Strait]] to the north, down to the [[Black River]] to the south. He never conquered the lands south of the Black River due to the resistance of the cities of [X] and [Y].

The Empire began a strong policy of myth and legend to justify the imperial lineage as divine, and this is where the myth of Ahesuyê and the [[Marphat calendar]] originate. Girrizomê’s dynasty would adopt the titles of “King of the Marphat, King of the World, Chieftain of Chieftains, from the Mountains to the Seas”. This dynasty would last for 200 years, collapsing around 600 CY, coinciding with the “[[Bronze Age Collapse]]” across the [[Triangle Sea]]. The '''Copper War''' (often referred to as the '''Great War''') was a wide-reaching global military conflict that lasted from 4602 [[Human history|CY]] to 4607 CY. It was a result of mounting tensions between the major world powers of the time. It led to the mobilisation of X million military personel and is the single deadliest conflict in history, with an estimated X million combatant deaths and X million civilian deaths as a direct result of the war. The war would see the first large scale use of machine and trench warfare, making the war a slow and brutal affair that would see the nations in the war pushed to their economic limits. The middle of the 46th century would see great technological progress becoming commonplace across North Yazland and the world. Developments of new military technologies which relied on copper as a main component began an arms race between the various powers of Yazland and a desire to hold control over the international copper trade. This came to a breaking point in 4602 CY, when a dispute over privateering between [[Chiöq]], [[Dhimrai]], [[Tschintiessteiss]], and [[Wadiin]] would cause Dhimrai to declare war on TSC.

==Background==
With the development of new military technologies in the 4Xth century—such as [[Tank|Tanks]], [[Landship|Landships]], and [[Airship|Airships]]—the demand for the copper necessary to construct these machines would skyrocket. Causing countries to rush towards whatever sources of copper they could find. This race to control the copper trade would affect the countries of [[Dhimrai]] and [[Tschintiessteiss]] in particular, as the copper-rich TSC would attempt to prevent Dhimze from gaining any share in the copper market. The two powers would engage in a large-scale proxy trade war, manipulating and negotiating with foreign powers to give a disadvantage to the other in the market. Principally, these two would find allies in [[Huo]], TSC primarily with Chiöq and Dhimrai primarily with Wadiin. The two kingdoms controlled colonial empires in Huo and [[Jarruunh]], in which they’d extract copper to fund their own arms and to sell to other powers.

==Prelude==
Following Dhimrai’s entry into the [[Black Wars]], the military would see an extreme need for copper to maintain current vessels and to create new ones. Dhimrai had been losing the ongoing trade war with Tschintiessteiss over copper, as TSC and its allies would outcompete Dhimrai and it’s allies, making the process of attaining copper unwieldy and unprofitable for Dhimrai and it’s allies. This resulted in a copper shortage in Dhimrai, which set in almost immediately after entering the Black Wars. The leaders of Dhimrai, desperate for resources, constructed a plan between themselves and the government officials in Wadiin to regain a foothold in the copper market. Wadiin would hire an expansive amount of privateers to raid copper shipping between Chiöq and TSC, these privateers would then sell the copper at an affordable price to Dhimrai, under the guise of being “merchant shipping.” Following the implementation of this plan, and the restoration of a copper supply for Dhimrai, the governments of Tschintiessteiss and it’s allies would take notice, demanding answers from the governments of Wadiin and Dhimrai. The Dyaway of Wadiin would not accept responsibility for the raids on merchant shipping but began an official government investigation to reprimand the privateers, though in practice the investigation would never get off the ground due to intentional delays. The Delegate(?) of Dhimrai denied all connection with the privateers, claiming they were simply buying copper from a private source. The government of Tschintiessteiss, though annoyed with these responses, took steps to avoid war, instead sending the navy to arrest suspected privateers to aid Wadiin in their official investigation. In response, the Dhimze Navy was sent to protect the privateers and Dhimrai’s copper trade, with the Delegate(?) claiming that Tschintiessteiss should not unlawfully detain ships inbound for Dhimrai. The tensions came to a boiling point when on 29 Giulan 4602 CY, a Tschintierst attempt to detain a privateer ship and a misunderstanding between Dhimze and Tschintierst forces led to a minor skirmish, which saw a Dhimze vessel sunk. Dhimrai would declare war on Tschintiessteiss less than two weeks later, on 17 Uinte 4602.

The Doccábh peoples were originally part of the greater Proto-Yasgan cultural group, sharing linguistic and cultural similarities primarily with the Gintem and North Yasgan groups, residing to the west of the land traditionally considered Doccábhan, later migrating into the land inhabited by the North Yasgan peoples and displacing them around 800CY. They were still largely hunters, although had domesticated animals, and skilled metalworkers. Their agriculture revolved largely around sorghum, wheat, and the bean. Their culture was more distinguishable from the other groups in the area by the year 1200CY (see image to the right). They began becoming more sedentary, as the agricultural practices evolved to allow for surpluses, with urbanisation beginning into the 1600s CY.

During the Aristocratic period, the land occupied by the Doccábhan tribes was ruled by many disparate kingdoms and city-states. Despite this, cultural unity was largely the case, though regional variation existed. Many of the smaller states were effectively ruled by nearby larger states.

Near the end of the Aristocratic period, one particularly large state, the [[Fúigimic kingdom]], had come to control of a significant portion of the eastern land. The fall of the Quinquevirate, and by extension the Doccábh Empire, can be attributed to a combination of factors culminating in the final years of the empire during the 30th century CY. Primary among these is the displacement of the [[Gintem]] peoples from their native lands by the [[Milevic]] expansion during this time period. Anti-Gintem sentiment already existed among the empire, with the Gintem peoples largely being considered uncivilized barbarians, pushing the Gintem to mount a hostile invasion of the eastern portion of the empire. Due to military funds already being spread thin across the imperial frontier, novel military strategies from the Gintem, and internal corruption, the east quickly collapsed, causing a major loss in soldiers, morale, and farmland. The consonants /m n r/ could be either tense or lax. Lax sonorants were generally pronounced as plain sonorants, but could have a softer pronunciation after vowels, similar to lenited consonants.
Tense sonorants were generally pronounced closer to a geminate, and could be found only medially and finally; finally, they were usually realised as a syllabic consonant, but other dialects might still use the geminate pronunciation.
