The Fúigimic Kingdom (/fu:ˈgɪ.mɪk/; Classical Doccábh: Fúigimeagáini áirreangoidin /ˈfu:ɣʲimʲəˌɣa:nʲi ˈa:rʲˑəŋ.ˌgoðʲinʲ/) was a kingdom of the Aristocratic period and the kingdom of the Regal period of Doccábhic history.

Early history

The kingdom is generally believed to have been founded by Fúigimi, the first áirreann.

During the Aristocratic period

Controlled territory circa some time in the aristocratic period

looks like classical athens basically

Seeing the expansion of the aristocratic class as well as the population of Feigeme, either Fúigimi or his son formed the Úscáirn, an assembly of landowners who would meet at minimum yearly (with the king also able to summon special sessions), at the Úscáircin outside of the inner walls of Feigeme. They met to discuss and vote on issues concerning law, taxation, agricultural policy, and foreign relations. Notably, they were discluded from discussion of war, as the military was considered the sole realm of the Áirreann. They were presided over by a béngen[a], who kept record of the law. This mirrored earlier Doccábh cultural tradition of people's councils. A béngen was appointed by the Áirreann. The independence of the béngen from either the Áirreann or the Úscáirn varied; at times the béngen could act essentially in allegiance with the Áirreann, and at others he could act as a representative of the council.

Expansion

they got big bc of the drought, gaideannoc expands the kingdom and vassalizes everyone else. helot class?

Early Regal period

i love to be a vassal >w<

Northern Rebellions

there is nooooo fucking farmland + you embargo'ed the fucking khozathians

Around the year XXXX, a series of revolts sprang up, largely in the northern regions of the kingdom. Many landowners and farmers refused to work, as well as attacking the homes of local TODO TERM FOR REGIONAL GOVERNORs, demanding land redistribution from non-local landowners and large families to local farmers. Over time, much land had become owned by large, non-local landowning conglomerates, causing major land disputes between families as inheritance split farmland into smaller and smaller plots. Price manipulation of crops also meant that much of the land owned by these conglomerates would go fallow some years, as they attempted to induce artificial scarcity, in some cases causing famine when crop stores dried up over the non-growing period. This led to more landowners needing to sell their land for the means to survive, usually to these large conglomerates as they were the only groups which could afford to buy this land, further increasing the scarcity of land. In the spring of the year XXXX, Áirreann SOMETHING sent GENERAL NAME with an army to quell the rebellions, which proved unpopular in CAPITAL NAME. Rebellions began to spread further than the north, requiring further suppression.

demands for uscairn veto over military endeavors, w the intention to be able to avoid problems like the spring-XXXX rebellion. also various demands for an expansion of the uscairn

uscairn is suspended, landowners do a tax strike, withholding money and food from the palace and military

something something military revolt and a new dynasty comes around woo there is the worst civil war theyve seen for a bit across all of the land, chwyvin splits off in the south

important to note that if the military didnt revolt the kingdom probably would have just broken up into more kingdoms controlled by different landed gentry

Second dynasty and the later Regal period

Peak of the second dynasty

what if... we got big. now that everyone is happy and has food we should say "hey if you fight with me i will give you land" (good decision)

devolution of various case law responsibilities to something like circuit courts? it would be funny if they had 5 to sort of prefigure the quinquevirate. maybe caoir could be a circuit judge?

various magistrates and administrative positions elected by the uscairn, but later on the airreann takes sole control of some economically important positions to do nepotism about it

Final years

refusal to expand the uscairn and failures to upkeep irrigation infrastructure lead to tax strikes and withholding money and food from the palace again, military is already mostly merged with the aristocracy, breakaway states and warlordism, north dhimrai fucks off and does something else

everyone is leaving me :(

the foog is gone
